Adrian Kuiper shows his class at Boland Senior Open

The former SA cricketer Adrian Kuiper was crowned today on his home course Hermanus as Boland Senior Open Champion.
Kuiper was leading the field after the first round with a score of 70.
In the second round he made a double bogey at the par 3 13th, but came back strongly with birdies to finish the tournament 2 strokes ahead of the field.
On the last hole he hit his wedge from about 80 m to about 4 feet and made his birdie putt. In his final round of 72 he made 5 birdies.
Graeme Watson (Ebotse) was the runner-up with 144 (75,69).
Deon Brown (Somerset-West), Ulrich Schulte (Bochumer) and Ralph Fransman (Somerset-West) ended in joint 3rd spot with a score of 146.

• Abrie Swanepoel, director of the Boland Golf Union, said the course was in great condition. He also thanked the Hermanus Club for their excellent catering as well as their commitment to make this tournament a huge success – 94 players participated in the Boland Senior Open.
