One of the stalwarts of Boland Golf and the Hermanus Golf Club, Edelweiss du Plessis, has passed away.
She was a hard worker at club and union level and was until the end still busy helping the caddies to survive during Covid19.
Sharon Sleigh, manager of Hermanus Golf Club, shared the following with the members of Hermanus Golf Club: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of past Captain and Honorary Member; Edelweiss du Plessis, beloved wife of André.”
“We are saddened not only at the loss but at the loss of an exceptional individual, who served as Lady Captain and Captain of our very special Club. She was always willing to give her time and guidance for others. She was well respected and trusted by the staff and caddies at the Club.”
“Edelweiss served as Club Captain of Hermanus Golf Club in 2013 and 2014.”
“Edelweiss was a pillar of strength, right up until the end.
I am so privileged to have had the opportunity of working with her closely, she taught me so much, not only in the workplace but also about life and love.”
“She had an incredible presence which I believe will live on in the Club and in the hearts of many for a very long time.”
“I will miss her enthusiasm and strong will, but I will always remember what she taught me in my everyday life.”
“Andre and the family are in our thoughts and prayers, Edelweiss will be sorely missed by all who knew her.”
